We are casting for our new show GALVANISE, by Helena Westerman at VAULT Festival 2019. Come and join an all-female team to make a piece that celebrates female history and unbreakable friendships at the biggest arts festival in London.
Rascal Theatre is ran by Caroline Simonsen (director) and Helena Westerman (writer). Our first production An Act Of Kindness toured schools and received sell out runs at The Lion and Unicorn, Theatre503 and Edinburgh Fringe 2017, awarded ‘Best Writing ‘ by Theatre Weekly’s Best of the Fest. It was then presented at VAULT Festival 2018 and The Old Joint Stock Theatre. (★★★★★ – Theatre Weekly, ★★★★ – Three Weeks, The Reviews Hub). Galvanise is Rascal’s second production and will preview at VAULT Festival 2019.

2018, three school girls in South London face their final year at school.
Lakshana, Jess and Shanay have been best friends for years, but as their home lives become tense, mental health deteriorates and their future looms, their friendship is tested. The year progresses and tales of women gone before them become relevant, rousing and frightening, electrifying their present and warping their futures.
Using breath-taking animation to bring these women from the past onto the stage Helena Westerman’s second play, Galvanise celebrates female history and unbreakable friendships.
We are casting for the role of Shanay, an 18-year-old girl in her final year of school. She is Black British, born and raised in South London. She is extroverted, fiercely loving and artistic. At the beginning of the play she is experiencing symptoms of what she later discovers is Bipolar Disorder.

Rehearsals: Monday 18th Feb – Tuesday 26th Feb.

Show dates: Wednesday 27th Feb – Sunday 3rd March. Show times: 18:25 & 15:25 (Sat only)
There will be extra rehearsals throughout February. These will work around the team’s schedules.
